It’s Official-I’m A Damn #MaskFiend and I’m Proud Of It

You know, it’s when I clean out my bathroom and am able to take a close look at what’s in my cupboards that I realize I have a problem. You’d think I’d notice BEFORE THEN. Nope.

Mask Overload #MaskFiend

#MaskFiend.jpg

#MaskFiend

Holy CRAP…when did this situation happen???!! It’s ludicrous.

Granted, some of them are PR Samples, so for those I scream UNCLE, and you can’t hold me responsible for. But some of that ridiculous mask overload is my fault, and hey…I’m owning up to it. Because you know what? I’M A #MASKFIEND. There, I finally admitted it! And it feels GOOD.

What’s a #MaskFiend? Well, if you love the instant and sometimes a few days lasting effects of INSTANT BOOST SKINCARE  for your skin woes, then hey….JOIN ME. OWN IT MAN. It’s ok. We could have worse addictions…and I know, I’m from a drug-riddled-addicted-family that only me and my little bro escaped the really awful effects of so, I know what I’m talking about here, I swear to God.

Ok, well enough self-loathing. Let’s analyze this mask overload, shall we? More Tracy Unplugged for your entertainment. Although seriously when am I NOT UNPLUGGED??! I gotta get a new saying, so if you can help me with that I’ll love you forever.

The WorkHorsies(see what I did there?) from my Forever Fave Love Avène

#MaskFiend.jpg

Avène Loves

I can’t live without these two masks from Avène, so trust me, these are repurchases. The Eau Thermale Avène Soothing Moisture Mask is a workhorse mask for me and my dry, easily irritated aging skin. It’s something I slap on after a shower without even thinking. I never wipe it off. I’ll even use it as a moisturizer if my skin is feeling REALLY dry…like now. We have had no rain here, and I’m sure you’ve all heard of the #FortMacMurray Wildfire. It’s so SO DRY HERE you guys….I walk across the carpet in my house, and I am setting off SPARKS at anything I touch and it’s not even winter #NOHUMIDITYATALL

The Avéne Antirougeurs Redness Relief Soothing Repair Mask is another I’ll slap on every other day to calm and soothe my red face. It’s just so good…both of them are. Pretty much Holy Grails for this #maskfiend that’s for sure.

Sleeping Masque

#MaskFiend.jpg

Amore Pacific and Nip+Fab Soften

The Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Sleeping Recovery Masque($72) I bought after trying a sample. Yup. One night, one try was all it took for me to buy the full size. It’s the best sleeping mask I’ve tried to date. I don’t know, I think it’s the Bamboo Sap that my skin loves, because there’s another mask I’ll show you later with the same ingredient), but it works for me. I use this at night when my skin is extra-parched like right now. I’ll slather on a light layer and wait a bit for it to sink in before hitting the sheets, otherwise my pillowcase gets the brunt of the good stuffs. It takes a bit of time to sink in before you can go to sleep, but hey…that’s ok with me because it IS a mask so, I expect that. The next morning my skin is so soft and smooth and flake-free…it’s amazing stuff.

The Nip+Fab Soften Kale Fix Clay Mask is a new one that was sent for me to try, and if you have dry, dehydrated skin that breakouts, you NEED this. It’s not a drying out clay mask, so this works for those of us that have dehydrated skin. It’ll draw out any gunk without making your skin look like the Sahara. It’s a great drugstore find that’s for sure!

#MaskFiend.jpg

Glamglow and Laneige

Ok, confession time: I had NO idea that the GlamGlow Gravity Mud Firming Treatment was a PEEL OFF MASK??!! #FML I swear I’ve used this twice and hated it because it was so DAMN HARD to wash off HAHAHAHAHAHA so, I can’t really give you a review other than it makes you look all silver like The Terminator#2, so…yeah…but initial thoughts are that there’s a bit of firming so… I’ll get back to you about that bugger, now that I know how to use it. I really need to start reading beauty directions on the packages again. Seriously.

The Laneige Mulberry Yogurt Repairing Mask is only $33 Canadian which is a STEAL when it comes to masks. I like this one! It’s formulated with extracts from raspberries, blueberries, wolfberries(WOOHOO what’s a wolf berry because DUDE I want one), cranberries, and strawberries- a Multiberry Complex that delivers loads of nutrients and antioxidants deep into the skin to help nourish and eliminate harmful free radicals. It’s SUPER nourishing and hydrating- I mean it feels and smells like a yogurt berry smoothie hahaha! It’s a lovely, nourishing, moisturizing mask that I’m happy to have in my #maskoverload arsenal.
#MaskFiend1.jpgLet’s start with the bottom of that trifecta of AWESOME. The Filorga Meso-Mask I’ve talked about HERE , so read about why I love that one so much and will always have it on hand.

The Erborian Bamboo Waterlock made my Skincare 2015 faves list, and with good reason! It’s the best hydrating mask I’ve ever used. It’s a refreshing gel that you can use as a rinse-off mask, or as a leave-on treatment. Bamboo sap and fibers helps to lock in moisture and you immediately feel hydrated. The sap contains amino acids, to help hydrate the skin, while the fiber contains proteins and lipids to help maintain skin’s natural moisture. I’ll put it on after I shower and just let it sink in-why rinse it off? It also reduces visible signs of fatigue, so I love using this overnight. And the bamboo scent is so calming and green and lovely. Really one of the best masks I’ve ever tried!

The Clinique Sculptwear Contouring Massage Cream Mask($54) I got during a Shopper’s Optimum Points Redemption, so it was sort of free, and it’s ok? It’s really nourishing and moisturizing I’ll give it that much. But as far as any sculpting or contouring going on,  I call #TRENDBULLSHIT on that…good job Clinique on using those buzz words that are going around the beauty world right now, but your mask is just hydrating. That’s about it. At least it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, so I’ll give you that much. But it doesn’t do much more than that.

#MaskFiend.jpg

These are the two masks I use when I want to brighten and make my skin look super CLEAN and NEW.

Consonant DHE Mask($45) is a 100% natural mask that’s formulated to detoxify, hydrate, and exfoliate to give you more radiant, healthy, youthful-looking skin after just one use. I bought this one form Well.ca when I became quite taken with the brand and wanted to try more of their products. It’s formulated with mineral-rich Manicouagan clay that’s extracted from the site of a 215 million year-old asteroid crash in Quebec like HELLOOOO— that’s like SOMETHING SPECIAL you guys! It detoxifies and clarifies your skin with the help of willow bark and tea tree extracts. Plus it’s got the potent HydrExtreme that I talked about HERE . This mask has a unique blend of alpha hydroxy acid fruit enzymes that gently exfoliate, revealing softer and smoother skin without any kind of irritation whatsoever. And my skin usually HATES any kind of glycolic or AHA’s, yet in this mask, those ingredients work! It’s so GOOD and it’s available at Sephora now so YAY for that!

The Caudalie Glycolic Peel($39) is a peel treatment mask that tightens pores, reduces oil, renews skin texture, and gives that immediate burst of radiance to your skin. In 10 minutes dudes. Yup, it works that fast. And it’s not irritating at all, even for my super-sensitive skin. It contains a butt load of active ingredients like papaya enzymes and glycolic acid that brighten and give you that radiant, young skin we all crave. GOOD STUFF.

Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask

#MaskFiend .jpg

Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask

I can’t remember why I picked up Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask($21 USD) but HOOWEE this is good stuff. If your skin is REALLY DRY, or you dried it out doing something extreme like trying to dry up a breakout-this is the stuff you need to repair you damaged skin barrier. It’s so emollient…like almost butter. I use this when I’ve had to combat any breakouts by using some kind of Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid Treatment, because LORDY those things parch my skin something fierce. This mask has all kinds of plant-based oils, essential fatty acids, and lipids that dry skin needs to repair and replenish itself. It’s super creamy and soothes and reduces any kind of inflammation to instantly restore radiance and soothe dryness. It’s the best healing mask I’ve tried, and it’s affordable too, so YAY. Love Paula’s Choice LOTS.

Is that it? I think that’s it, HOLY SHIZ. And that’s just what’s in my cupboard, because I have a skincare drawer of sheet masks too so, HOLY this is a serious issue I have??!!  I still have a few jar masks that I need to try that have been sent to me so…OY VEY. I’ll get to them soon, I promise, because that’s what I do. I just feel the need to actually USE one of these up first before cracking one of those open, ya’ know what I’m saying’? Christ on a BIKE.  😛

Are you a #MaskFiend too? What are some of your faves? Share! Enable a fellow #MaskFiend…like I need any help  😀 😀

Beauty Reflections Skincare Faves of 2016

Happy New Year everyone! It’s that time of year again! There’s a lot to go through, so get comfy folks!

My Skincare Faves of 2016

Beauty Reflections' Skincare Faves of 2016.jpg

Beauty Reflections’ Skincare Faves of 2016

Cleansers

Beauty Reflections' Skincare Faves of 2016.jpg

I love Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil($58) to remove sunscreen and makeup. It takes off everything, including mascara and doesn’t irritate my eyes. Of all the cleansing oils I’ve tried, this one emulsifies the best and rinses off the best as well, leaving no oily residue at all. My skin feels soft and clean after using it, and sometimes I don’t even feel the need to double cleanse to remove any leftovers. It’s never, ever broken me out either. Will definitely repurchase this for sure!

BriAA’s Genesis Cleansing Gel is new for me. BriAA is an Israeli Company that is launching in the USA. They are a leading skincare manufacturer with international reputation of more than 38 years in the skincare industry, specializing in natural cosmetics and skin rejuvenation technologies. They sent me a couple of products to try, and WOW-I LOVE this gel cleanser a lot! It smells like green tea and is so light and refreshing. Without a doubt, it’s probably the best foaming, gentle, gel cleanser I’ve ever tried. It cleanses gently, and leaves my skin feeling so GOOD and soft. LOVE IT. Look out for this company, their products are pretty awesome from what I’ve tried.

Hylamide Hydra-Density Mist($18)

Beauty Reflections' Skincare Faves of 2016.jpg

Love this mist after cleansing! It has some marine extracts with a higher water-retaining capacity than hyaluronic acid to hydrate skin. There’s also Green Tea Polyphenols, Golden Eye Grass Root, and Tasmanian Pepperberry to soothe skin and reduce redness. It’s a meaty spray which I love and works well. Good stuff!

AmorePacific Treatment Enzyme Peel
Beauty Reflections' Skincare Faves of 2016.jpg

I didn’t use this for a few months as I was testing out so much skincare this year, and I missed it SO SO MUCH. I’m so glad to be using it again and so is my skin haha. Within a week, my skin looked brighter, better, calmer, less flaky, and less breakouts. See my original review here on how it changed my skin. It now has the dubious distinction of being the one skincare product that I’ve been using for over 2 years now and that’s something when you’re a blogger!

Hylamide and Deciem The Ordinary
Beauty Reflections' Skincare Faves of 2016.jpg

The Hylamide Booster C25($38) is back again this year as a fave. It’s just solidly good stuff and my skin loves this 25% concentrated and completely stable 25% Ethylated Vitamin C booster. I should really do a more in-depth review of The Ordinary serums and that skincare line, which you can find here. I don’t know how they do it, but their prices are outrageously affordable and from what I’ve tried-REALLY GOOD TOO. The Ordinary Buffet($14.80) is a Multi-Technology Peptide Serum, with Matrixyl 3000 being the main proven anti-aging peptide. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 ($6.80) is an awesome hydrating serum and did you see that frickin’ price? HOW. The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5% + HA 2% costs $6.50 and it’s SO GOOD you guys. Lactic Acid is for me at least, the one exfoliating HA that doesn’t break me out. This one smells good too, not overpowering at all, but has a nice gentle scent. It works so well, leaving skin smooth as silk. I use it every other night and love it. They have a 10% concentration as well, and that’s the next one I’m picking up for sure.

It’s hard to see in that pic, but Consonant HydrEXTREME ($72 for 10ml) is on my faves list again. It’s seriously the BEST hydrating serum I’ve ever used. Click on that link to read all about it.

Yuri Pibu Artichoke Power Essence($38)
Beauty Reflections' Skincare Faves of 2016.jpg

Here’s comes some of the Korean Skincare I’ve been using and loving this year. Yuri Pibu Artichoke Power Essence contains 60% artichoke extract to hydrate, nourish and smooth skin and it also helps to tighten the appearance of pores. It’s waterless, which I find amazing and has no silicones, no parabens or other not good for your skin ingredients. It’s an essence, so that means it’s a lotion-y serum. It absorbs quickly, and I swear my pores are looking smoother too. You can find it at Glow Recipe, although it’s sold out at the moment.

J.One Jelly Pack($42) and J.One Hana Cream($30)
Beauty Reflections' Skincare Faves of 2016.jpg

This Korean Skincare line is created by a popular actress and these two products are AWESOME. J.One Jelly Pack firms, hydrates and is a primer for makeup too. It’s a weird texture, a kind of sticky gel that seems a bit hard to rub on, but don’t worry, it does finally sink in and when it does WOWZA. I swear my face loses like 10 pounds when I use this stuff haha! It firms and lifts up everything, smooths over pores, and is a great primer too.
The J.One Hana Cream is a capsule cream which is SO COOL.

 photo SAM_5405.jpg

Each little sphere is perfectly portioned so you get the right amount every time you use it. I love this idea! It’s full of ingredients that brighten, firm, blur, and plumps up the skin. You can find both of these products at Sephora in the USA right now, and I’m hoping they make their way across the border soon. Otherwise, you can order them from Glow Recipe which ships to Canada in 2-3 days. So worth it!

Moisturizers

photo SAM_5408Beauty Reflections' Skincare Faves of 2016Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb($38) is Korean as well, and you can find the line at The Face Shop across Canada, and at Sephora in the USA. It’s such a good moisturizer if you have really dry skin. It’s a kind of bouncy cream that gives instant moisture. You know when people say it feels like your skin just drank a big glass of water? That’s exactly what this feels like.

Live Clean Fresh Face Soothing Daily Moisturizer is probably the best drugstore moisturizer I’ve tried, and it made my list this year again. So affordable at around $14 for a massive tube-it’s 5 oz. Who in the heck makes a face moisturizer that size these days? Live Clean, that’s who! No bad for your skin ingredients at all, it’s a solid moisturizer that I love to use and never interferes with makeup at all.

 photo SAM_5410.jpg

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30($52) is another Korean skincare brand, and again I’m so sorry, but this one isn’t in Canada either. The other Tiger Grass cream is, but because this one has SPF it’s not here. Maybe soon. But I love using this one on no makeup days.

 photo SAM_5411.jpg

The green-beige colour does a pretty decent job at correcting my redness amazingly enough! Shocked me actually. I got a sample at Disneyland the last time we were there, and loved it so much I got the full size to take home. The Tiger Grass helps soothe redness and reduce it. It’s thick, and really protects the skin’s barrier. Plus, it’s got SPF 30 too, so for me this is a godsend product. If you suffer from redness like I do, it’s worth trying for sure.

Night Creams/Moisturizers

photo SAM_5415.jpgMost nights, I opt for a sleeping mask with Fresh Black Tea Firming Overnight Mask($92) being my fave. I love the stuff. I wake up with moisturized, brighter, firmer looking skin every time I use it.

Another Live Clean Fresh Face product! The Nourishing Night Cream($20) is awesome. Natural, organic ingredients that work so well and is so affordable. I love using this one if I’m using an acid or retinol overnight as it doesn’t have any ingredients that would interfere. Love it and Live Clean a lot!

Masks

Beauty Reflections' Skincare Faves of 2016.jpg

I love masks. And I love the Blithe Patting Splash Mask in Rejuvenating Purple Berry($45). Marky loves the Soothing Green Tea one. You can read my review HERE, but for both of us these Splash Masks are probably one of the best skincare finds of the year.

Beauty Reflections' Skincare Faves of 2016.jpgI have a lot of masks, but to be honest these three from Eau Thermal Avène are the ones I reach for and use the most. Pretty much after every shower I’ll use one. The Soothing Moisture Mask I’ll even use as a moisturizer if I’m feeling especially parched. The Tolérance Extreme Mask  is great when my skin is acting up and feeling itchy and blotchy and misbehaving. And the Antirougeurs Calm is perfect for anytime I want to look less red.

Eye Cream

photo SAM_5428.jpgThe Bella Aura Instant Lifting Eye Contour is my favourite daytime eye cream hands down. It’s more of a lotion than a cream, but it sinks in immediately, cools, refreshes, brightens, and I swear my eyes look lifted as well. I adore it so much, and will need to repurchase another this month for sure.

The Peter Thomas Roth Retinal PM Cream($68) I’ve been using since the Sephora VIB Sale in November, so I can honestly tell you this is probably the best eye cream I’ve used to reduce the look of fine lines and crow’s feet. I’m really noticing the difference about now, and that’s the thing with products like this, it takes time before you really see results. I figure I’ll need to replace it this month, and I plan on doing that for sure.

Sunscreen

SAMSUNG CSC

Cyberderm Simply Zinc Sun Whip and Every Morning Sun Whip($38 each) are the best mineral sunscreens I’ve ever used. They protect all day long, don’t interfere with makeup, and never break me out. I prefer mineral sunscreen on my face, and these two are pretty much perfection in my eyes. And yay! They are Canadian as well! And, they ship to the USA and International as well.

Favourite Skincare Line Of 2016

Beauty Reflections' Skincare Faves of 2016.jpg

Bella Aura’s Essential Energy Boosting Kit

Bella Aura Skincare was the best skincare line I’ve tried this past year. It’s a luxurious, natural, and highly effective skincare line that is is emulsion-based. Emulsions are created when a water based moisturizer is combined with botanical oils. They are lightweight and quickly absorb into the deepest layers of your skin, leaving no greasy residue at all. An emulsion has the ability to maintain hydration levels and prevent moisture loss from your skin’s surface. All skin types benefit from emulsions, as they are hydrating and don’t clog pores at all. This is Bella Aura’s Essential Energy Boosting Kit($75) and contains 10ml sizes of all 5 Bella Aura Skincare products. It’s a great way to try the line and I think you’d love it as much as I do!

Phew again! These faves posts take so long to do, but I like doing them because it really makes me look at what products I actually use. A lot of them I’ve bought on my own, a few have been sent by PR. But all of them I will continue to keep using and purchasing when I run out, that’s for sure.

Have you tried any of these products? What skincare gems did you discover last year?

Blithe Patting Water Mask-Exploring Korean Skincare

The weirdest, yet coolest skincare product I’ve tried in a long time

YOU GUYS. I found something that’s SO GOOD. Yet SO….different. But WORKS like nothing else I’ve tried before!

Splash Masks! Have you heard of them?

Blithe Patting Water Mask .jpg

Blithe Patting Water Mask

Splash Masks are a Korean Skincare invention, of course. Seriously, I’m all OVER the Korean skincare game because they know what they’re doing! Fifteen seconds with a splash mask is equivalent to a 20 minute sheet mask. And that’s with no waiting around, no scaring your hubby because you look like Jason, and my fave benefit-NO AWKWARD MASK SELFIE. #WhyDoPeopleDoThem #WTF #freaksMeOut

Blithe Patting Water Mask is a watery…toner? No, it’s more viscous than that…maybe like an essence…yeah…that’s it. But it’s concentrated and chock-full of good for your skin ingredients like all kinds of antioxidants, glycerin, and my fave chemical exfoliator-lactic acid. My aging, sensitive skin LOVES lactic acid…it’s the only chemical exfoliator I can use without any ill-effects.

There are two ways you can use a splash mask. One way is to dump a capful of it into a bowl filled with warm water and splash your face with that for about 15 seconds. Eh. I guess you could use your sink? And I don’t know about you but I don’t clean my bathroom skink every day! RIGHT? If you do, then WOW, you are like my hero. But my point is that I’d want a clean sink that’s for sure, not one that I just brushed my teeth and spit into! My fave way, which is a tip from the Glow Recipe girls(where in fact is where I ordered my Blithe Patting Water Mask from) is to use it in the shower.  I spread, or PAT a little less than a capful onto my face at the beginning of my shower( I like the idea of putting it on my dry face? But I have put it on my wet face and it still works). I keep patting it on for about 15 secondss-once I feel it tingle-and believe me it doesn’t take long to feel that tingle! Like I said, this is a pretty concentrated mask! Once the tingle happens, I start rinsing my face off under the shower. That’s IT. EASY. NO MESS. NO WAIT.

And when you get out of the shower? SMOOOOOooooove skin is the result. And soft skin too! And no irritation to my sensitive skin either. My face has NEVER felt so moisturized after a shower you guys! Usually it’s tight and dry feeling, but not after using my Blithe Patting Water Mask. NOPE.

Now there are three kinds of Blithe Patting Water Masks, so CHOOSE WISELY. I have the purple one as you can see, which is the Rejuvenating one, which is more suitable for aging skin like mine. It’s fruity smelling, almost grapey if I really want to pin down the scent. It’s not too much either, and I don’t think it’s cloying or anything. Sephora USA is selling Blithe right now which is like WOW-LUCKY YOU GUYS I HATE YOU ALL HAHAHA. But they have only two of them: the one that’s for skin prone to acne, which I got Marky to order and try, and another one that’s full of citrus oils which for me is a no-no, but hey if you can handle them, then you go girl.

I swear you guys-two weeks of using my Blithe Patting Water Mask and my skin is GLOWING and so SMOOOVE. I am hooked. Big TIME.

Have you tried a splash mask yet? Have you tried any innovative Korean Skincare yet? What’s the coolest Korean Skincare product you’ve tried?

Bella Aura Skincare-Beautiful Skin is the Reflection of a Person’s Aura

One of my #beautygoals this year is to incorporate more green and natural products into my skincare and makeup. So far, it’s been quite fun discovering new products! And some of these new products are proudly made in Canada, like Bella Aura Skincare. This is a luxurious, natural, and highly effective skincare line that I’ve fallen head over heels for.

Bella Aura Skincare

Bella Aura Skincare.jpg

Bella Aura Skincare

The founder and creator of Bella Aura Skincare, Yasmine Jones, had serious skin problems while under stress during her mother’s battle with Leukaemia. After a trip to Morocco, natural oils were starting to help her skin recover, but not as effectively as she wanted them to. She decided to combine these natural oils of Argan, Cactus, Neroli, and Nigella-a proprietary blend she calls Kamilah which means complete in Arabic -with advanced active ingredients. And that’s how Bella Aura Skincare came to be! Bella Aura means beautiful aura. All living things apparently give off a coloured aura that represents personality traits and energy. DO you know anybody that sees auras? I do! Marky actually can see colours around people and I think it’s neat.

What makes Bella Aura Skincare different? Bella Aura Skincare is emulsion-based. Each Bella Aura Skincare product contains the Kamilah blend of four natural botanical extracts of Argan, Cactus, Neroli, and Nigella infused with Peptides, vitamins, minerals and Omega 3,6,9 Fatty Acids. Bella Aura Skincare is a complete anti-aging, high performance, natural skin care line.

Gentle Purifying Cleanser

Bella Aura Skincare.jpg

Gentle Purifying Cleanser($42)

The Bella Aura Skincare Gentle Purifying Cleanser logo is blue, which symbolizes calmness. Blue projects tranquility and inner peace, and isn’t that what a cleanser should feel like? And this is such a lovely, calming cleanser! It’s creamy, and foams a tiny bit without any soap or harsh detergents. It smells INCREDIBLE. Actually, each product in the line smells so good thanks to the Neroli Oil, which is of the highest quality. The cleanser has a vitamin B complex to help exfoliate, replenish and protect the skin’s moisture barrier. It leaves skin soft, smooth, and ready for the next steps.

Antioxidant Booster

Bella Aura Skincare.jpg

Antioxidant Booster($148)

The Bella Aura Skincare Antioxidant Booster logo is orange which symbolizes a burst of energy and creativity. It infuses skin with peptides, vitamins C-E-A-B complex-D-F-k, minerals, and omega3-6-9 fatty acids. This is one of the best Antioxidant Boosters I’ve ever tried. It helps reduce the look of dark spots, discolouration, blotchiness and redness, while protecting it from damaging free radicals. It instantly absorbs, leaving skin soft and glowing. LOVE.

Daily Repair Moisturizer

Bella Aura Skincare.jpg

Daily Repair Moisturizer($128)

The Bella Aura Skincare Daily Repair Moisturizer logo is green which means renewal. The colour Green projects healing, rejuvenation and a sense of nature. This is a bit thicker in texture than the Antioxidant Booster, and oh so hydrating! One of the extra ingredients in here that is really interesting is Black Oats. Black Oats are a water-retaining substance, that help the skin’s own natural ability to retain moisture. After a couple of days of using it, my skin was so perfectly hydrated I couldn’t believe it. This is one serious moisturizer that really WORKS.

Lifting Eye Contour

Bella Aura Skincare.jpg

Lifting Eye Contour($128)

The Bella Aura Skincare Instant Eye Lifting Contour logo is indigo, which represents spirituality and intuition. Indigo projects a heightened sense of awareness.
I think this is my FAVOURITE product from Bella Aura Skincare. The texture is a thin, liquid emulsion that instantly brightens and moisturizes my eye area. It feels nice and cooling as it is absorbed, and doesn’t’ interfere with concealers at all. There are so many good for skin ingredients in this eye cream that will help support the skin’s natural collagen and reveal a younger, more lifted look to the eye area. I do notice a slight lift from this one! It’s so GOOD.

Night Cellular Renewal

Bella Aura Skincare.jpg

Night Cellular Renewal($148)

The Bella Aura Skincare Night Cellular Renewal logo is pink, which evokes compassion, beauty and love. It projects warmth and passion. Along with the Kamilah blend of four natural botanical extracts, this contains Gynostemma Pentaphyllum. Gynostemma Pentaphyllum is called the immortality herb in China. Overnight, this delivers nutrition and hydration to your skin. It increases firmness, elasticity and smoothness. The neroli scent is so soothing and it makes me look forward to using this at night. I wake up with radiant, rested, more youthful looking skin.

I’ve enjoyed using the Bella Aura Skincare line these past weeks! If I had to pick, my faves are the Cleanser and the Lifting Eye Contour. But I do love everything! All the products are very moisturizing, so I do think that drier skin types would benefit the most from them. Every product feels so luxurious, and smells incredible. It’s not an overpowering scent though in case that scares you. It’s a gentle and soothing scent. If you love Neroli like I do, then you’ll really enjoy using these products. I highly recommend checking out the line. You can order from the website, www.bellaaura.com.

How have you all been? What’s new? It feels like ages since I’ve posted and it probably has haha! I’ve been so busy and apologize for not posting more often. But most of the things I have to review at the moment happens to be skincare, and that takes time for me to test out. I don’t like telling you about skincare that I’ve only used once or twice, because what’s the point of that, right? Right! I do have some awesome lipsticks to share soon! So many new lipsticks I’ve been collecting-I think I’ve turned into a serious lipstick fiend you guys!

Have you been trying to use more green and natural beauty products too?

My Skincare Fails of 2015

I was up from 8:30 AM to 4:30 AM yesterday? Today? Food Poisoning has killed my sleep schedule dudes. And, I have a headache right now…actually AGAIN because I’ve had one every day this week. #whinewhineWHINE

Sleep-Deprived, head-hurtin’ Tracy is almost as snarky as Wine-Rantin’ Tracy, so it’s the perfect time to tell you about my skincare fails of 2015, right? Right. Now, remember these products didn’t work for ME, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t work for you, and you might even love some of my fails. I’m just doing what I do…sharin’. Ok, let’s do this. : )

Skincare Fails of 2015

Skincare Fails of 2015.jpg

Skincare Fails of 2015

A lot of fails, my friends. A LOT. Let’s start with the worst smelling one, shall we? Smells can make or break a product, hey? And this one SMELLS like it belongs in my Skincare Fails of 2015.  😛

Perricone MD Cold Plasma Sub-D

Skincare Fails of 2015.jpg

Perricone MD Cold Plasma Sub-D

A treatment to sculpt and tighten the appearance of skin along the chin and jawline.

Why does every Perricone product have to smell so BAD?! Dead fish and lemongrass is what this smells like. And it has the weirdest texture- like coddled jelly with some grit to it? I don’t know, but it did nothing except break me out along my neck and jawline. I don’t get the Perricone MD skincare love at all? Most things I’ve tried from them in the past didn’t do anything either. I’ll be staying away from the fishy line from now on.

Estée Lauder New Dimension Liquid Tape

 Skincare Fails of 2015.jpg

Estée Lauder New Dimension Liquid Tape

A transforming treatment with fast-acting polymers to help give skin a tighter feel and lifted look.

I got this at a Shopper’s Drug Mart Redemption Event last year, and man it does NOTHING too. Like nothing. Nada. Zip.

And I also redeemed at the same time for its sister product, the Estée Lauder New Dimension Shape & Fill Expert Serum.

Estée Lauder New Dimension Shape & Fill Expert Serum

An innovative serum that helps define the look of facial contours and create a smooth, radiant complexion.

Now this stuff works well actually! I notice a lift and definition when I use it. BUT, it breaks me out. Bloody EL shoving silicones in their skincare all willy nilly… 😛 why oh why. Sigh. I can use it a couple of times a week tops without too much trouble, so I’ll use it up. But I won’t get another. But if silicones don’t bother you and you’re looking for a lifting product, then I say try this one. Lesson learned: No more Estée Lauder Skincare for me from now on until they stop siliconing it up.

Etival Aqua Surge Serum

Etival Aqua Surge Serum

Found this on a clearance rack at Shoppers Drug Mart for $9 or so, and since I’m all about hydration I thought why not. It’s supposed to hydrate and help with dullness and fine lines. I don’t like it. It’s tacky feeling, and I never noticed any great hydration at all. In fact, my skin felt drier when I used it. Fail. At least it wasn’t an expensive fail like the next one.

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil

Skincare Fails of 2015.jpg

A next-generation retinoid oil to reduce pore size, improve appearance of damaged skin, and help fight wrinkles while moisturizing and calming skin.
I know a lot of people really love this stuff, but I saw no noticeable difference in my skin after using it, except for breakouts. I even tried Phil’s @MirrorReality tried and true method of applying facial oils and that helped a bit in that the breakouts lessened when I used it, but as for reduced pore and wrinkle size and smoother brighter skin-nope, nope, and NOPE. Lesson learned: Get a sample of an expensive skincare product that has rave reviews before plunking down cash. Luckily last year this cost me $110 Canadian, but I see the price has increased to $131 Canadian. WHY THAT EXTRA $1 SEPHORA, WHY can’t you just leave it at $130? Price Jerk Freaks.

Dior Capture Totale Dream Skin

Skincare Fails of 2015

Dior Capture Totale Dream Skin

An age-defying perfect skin creator that refines skin texture, evens skintone, diminishes the appearance of wrinkles, and increases radiance. This was a PR Sample and am I glad I didn’t spend any money or redeem any points for this puppy. Now, it’s not a bad product as per say, it’s just a way more expensive version of the Vichy Idéalia Life Serum is all. Like a whopping $71 more expensive version. If you’ve wanted to try this Dior one, then do yourself a favour and get the Vichy one instead. Does the exact same thing for a lot less cash.

La Roche-Posay Pigment Clear Serum

La Roche-Posay Pigment Clear Serum

Anti-dark spot correcting serum – long lasting efficacy, evens out visibly the complexion & significantly reduces the dark spots & pigment irregularities

I love a few La Roche-Posay skincare items, so when I saw this one I thought why not? I used this one for a good month before giving up on it. It didn’t do anything at all for me. I’ve had better results with the Deciem Hylamide C25 Stabilized Vitamin C for sure. And it’s cheaper too. Which brings me to the saddest of my Skincare Fails 2015.

Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Vitamin C+ Serum

 photo 406212fe-c70f-4ccb-b13b-9ab6bfaef9c8.jpg

A serum formulated to minimize the appearance of deep wrinkles and to strengthen the most fragile skin texture while visibly reducing the look of age spots and discoloration.

I’m a huge Algenist Skincare fan, and whenever they come out with a new product, I run to take a look at it in person and get a sample. I liked the texture of this so, I ended up getting the full size because my skin loves vitamin C and responds to it fairly quickly. Usually. I used this faithfully when I got it last year. Used it all up even. And it did nothing for me. And I couldn’t take it back because Sephora changed their return policy by the time I was done with it-that 30 day limit is NOT cool anymore when it comes to skincare that’s for sure. And again, wow the price of this has increased a LOT. I’m kind of glad not that it didn’t work for me and I’d want to repurchase it! Thank god for Deciem and their affordable skincare products that ACTUALLY work.

Out with the Skincare Fails of 2015 and in with the new haha! If you haven’t noticed already, I’ve kind of been really into skincare lately, so expect more of that for 2016. I’ll be 49 years old on Monday you guys-it’s time to kick it into high gear! I also want to start exploring more natural products as well, so that’s another thing I’ll be researching too. I’ve actually been trying more natural and organic makeup lately as well and I kind of found some things I really enjoy! Who knew?

What are some of your favourite natural skincare products that you really love? Let me know! I’m making a list!
